The Highland Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Forum have organised a Proud Ness event in Inverness on 6th October 2018, supported by out-reach events in a number of towns and villages across the Highland area.

Proud Ness will be the first large scale event for LGBTI+ people in the Highlands since 2002, when Pride Scotland decided to take its annual event outside Edinburgh and Glasgow for the first time.

The Proud Ness event on 6th October 2018 will start with a parade through Inverness to Eden Court, where various information and arts and crafts stalls, speakers, entertainment and workshops will be held for LGBTI+ people, their families, friends and allies.  To round off the day, there will be a disco in the evening in the Mercure Hotel.

In the run up to the Proud Ness event, there will be out-reach activities in a number of towns and villages across the Highland area, to increase the visibility of the LGBTI+ community in the Highlands and to provide space for the community to come together to reduce isolation.  They will also be promoting the Proud Ness event in Inverness on 6th October, as well as other Highland LGBTI Forum events and information about other LGBTI+ groups and supporting organisations in the Highlands.

The dates and locations for the out-reach events are:

11th August, Thurso

25th August, Portree

1st September, Ullapool

8th September, Aviemore

15th September, Fort William

All events are open to everyone and will be free of charge to take part in.  The evening disco on 6th October will be ticketed due to restriction on numbers.

Details of all the events and our contact details can be found on our Proud Ness Facebook page and Proud Ness website.
